Ms. Salazar was born and raised in Los Angeles. Upon graduating from Dorsey High School, she went to the University of California, Irvine and earned a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and Social Behavior with a minor in Educational Studies. During her undergraduate career, she worked for many outreach programs including the Early Academic Outreach Program (EAOP), Upward Bound, and the Orange County Bar Foundation's Higher Education Mentoring Program. Once she graduated from college, she worked with multiple school districts as an EAOP Regional Coordinator and utilized her knowledge as an UC Admissions Reader to make students more competitive for college.

Her work helping first-generation students from low-performing high schools become eligible and competitive for college led her to follow her calling and further her education. She earned a Master of Education in School Counseling and Pupil Personnel Services Credential from the University of Southern California only two years after earning her bachelor's degree. Ms. Salazar, a first-generation student, set high expectations by becoming the first woman in her family to graduate from high school and college, as well as the very first to earn a graduate degree!

Ms. Salazar is determined and passionate about helping students from similar backgrounds accomplish their goals and dreams despite any challenges they may face. She brought her expertise, passion, and dedication to CRAHS16 in March 2013 and helped graduate the very first senior class with a 100% graduation rate and 70% four-year college acceptance rate! She is now starting her third academic year as the 9th Grade and 11th Grade College Counselor.
