Mr. Solis has taught Math and Art at High School #16 since 2012. In his three years with the school, he has taught Algebra II, Geometry, Pre-Calculus and Art 1AB. This year, in addition to his Art classes, he and a group of ambitious seniors will be tackling Calculus!
Mr. Solis grew up in Lynwood, CA, which is about 16 miles south of our school and was the first person in his family to be admitted into college. He attended the University of Southern California from 2004-2010 (Go Trojans!!). In that time, Mr. Solis earned a Bachelor's Degree in both Fine Arts and Mathematics. When it became apparent that his professional goal was to be a teacher, he returned to USC in 2011 and earned a Masters Degree from the USC Rossier School of Education.
Mr. Solis cares a great deal for his students and strives to help them grow as critical problem solvers, creative individuals and competitive candidates for college admission.
Mr. Solis' passion for Art and Mathematics is only rivaled by his passion for Batman, Star Wars and several other nerd-based cultural phenomena.
