Volunteers

Parents as Partners is one of our Core Values. Learning should not end once the school day is over.  We ask parents to be meaningfully engaged in their children's education.  The following is a list of suggested ideas of how to get involved.

Activities to support the school include:
  • Field trip assistance and supervision
  • Special events assistance
  • Supervision
  • Initiating phone trees
  • Leadership activities such as serving as the parent representative for your child’s advisory class, participation in the parent advisory committee, school board of directors, or participating in other school committees

Activities to support your child academically include:
  • Saturday parent workshop participation
  • Back to School and Open House
  • Attend NP meetings
  • Parent Conferences
  • Classroom visits
  • Classroom support
  • Tutoring support
  • Serving as a parent mentor
  • Assisting with the development and dissemination of the school newsletter
  • Reviewing Grades on Pinnacle

School Leadership Activities:

  • Welcome Week Committee
  • Parent Representative for your child’s advisory class 
  • Teacher Appreciation Committee

Parent University:

It is important that parents and families be part of the process to build a college going culture.  This series of workshops are meant to support and encourage families to obtain information, tools and perspective to ensure access to and success in post secondary education.  

Workshops:
  • First step: HS Graduation and A-G
  • Support:  How to help your student succeed
  • College:  Making it a reality
  • College Systems:  Where do I go?
  • Financial Aid 1:  Costs & Scholarships
  • Financial Aid 2:  AB540
  • In addition to the above workshops - Senior parents can participate 
  • Parent Panel:  Alumni parents share their experiences

Senior Parents:

In addition to the above mentioned workshops Senior parents have the opportunity to participate in additional meetings throughout the semester.  These meetings included but are not limited to:

  • Graduation Standing (2 meetings each semester)
  • Grad Night and Prom
  • FASFA completion assistance
  • College Acceptance Night
  • Senior Awards
  • Graduation Ceremony Prep
