Principal's Message

Welcome to Alliance Ted K. Tajima High School!

I am delighted to have all of you on board for what promises to be another exciting school year serving the communities of Westlake and Echo Park, northwest of Downtown Los Angeles. This area is one of the most densely and diversely populated areas in the nation and home to many immigrant families, primarily from Mexico, Guatemala, and El Salvador.

You are now a part of an innovative and challenging charter school designed to provide students from some of the most underserved communities in Los Angeles with a quality education. We have seven full years under our belts and know the real challenges (and rewards) of starting a school from scratch. Most importantly, we have a very small school of approximately 400 students in grades 9-12. We must continue to make it our personal goal that each and every student that we come in contact with will learn and succeed academically. We know that the success of our students depends on our ability to work together and to establish supportive relationships between our staff, our students, and their families.

I strongly encourage families to communicate openly with each other. More importantly, all families should feel free to approach Mr. Graves or myself to discuss any personal or school issues that may arise for you or your child. Our doors are always open and we welcome any input you may have to make Ted K. Tajima a more productive learning environment for all students.

We look forward to working with you and your families as we prepare your child for academic success!

Sincerely,
Amber Diaz
